AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT & THE TTY - $99
This 8-hour course provides dispatchers with the necessary awareness and
operational training as required by the Department of Justice, Title II
Regulations. An overview of Deaf culture, legal requirements as well as
communications skills using American Sign Language are covered to assist
9-1-1 dispatchers in handling emergency calls from the hearing/speech impaired
community.
CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS & THE DISPATCHER - $275
This 24-hour course provides dispatchers the
essential resources and training to deal with crisis calls such as suicide,
domestic violence, hostage situations, and terrorism incidents involving
weapons of mass destruction. Dispatchers will learn techniques on how to
deal with difficult callers including how to avoid escalation of a crisis call.
This course satisifies the TCLEOSE 2120 requirements for the TCLEOSE Intermediate
Telecommunicator certificate.
CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS (MINI-COURSE) - $99
This 8-hour course is a fast impact version of our popular 24-hour Crisis
Communications & the Dispatcher course. It is intended for the new hire
dispatcher and provides quick start skills to handling crisis calls that the
new hire will become quickly exposed to in the dispatch center.
FIRST TIME SUPERVISOR FOR DISPATCH PERSONNEL - $139
The 8-hour course is for
the dispatcher who has recently become a communications supervisor or
who plans to make that step in the future. It is a 1-day course packed
with information to help the new communications supervisor make the
transition to supervising their co-workers. In addition to topics on
supervisors' roles, coaching and evaluating performance and communications
skills, it also provides the student with an overview of the necessary
employment statutes such as FMLA to give them the knowledge to handle
the administrative aspects of being a supervisor.
SURVIVAL SPANISH FOR DISPATCHERS - $195
This 16-hour course is a must for any center
that handles calls from the Spanish speaking community on a regular basis.
The dispatcher will be provided with an overview of the culture and community
to increase awareness of how the community interacts with public safety.
Basic language and phonetic skills are built to help a dispatcher handle a
Spanish speaking emergency call successfully, even a dispatcher who has never
spoken a second language.
TEAM BUILDING - $139
This 8-hour course identies skills and scenarios to assist
PSAP personnel in building an effective team. A cohesive, fluid functioning
team is a necessary component for a successful PSAP. Team building ensures that
your PSAP personnel are working together to accomplish your agency's mission as
well as providing quality public safety service to the community.
TERRORISM AWARENESS FOR DISPATCHERS - $99
This 8-hour couse is essential for bringing awareness to 9-1-1
dispatchers about their role in Homeland Security and how the events of 9/11
changed the way public safety does business. Dispatchers will learn what types
of threats exist, how to assess information to assist responders and recognize
that disaster incidents can quickly overwhelm a PSAPs operations. Solutions
to assist PSAPs in handling disaster incidents will be discussed.
TIME MANAGEMENT FOR MANAGERS - $275
This 8-hour course is for the busy PSAP Manager who is trying to
juggle managing PSAP personnel, overseeing operations, monitoring equipment
maintenance and all the other PSAP management tasks that seem to keep getting pushed
to the next day to be taken care of. Proven time management techniques will be
shared that will teach the PSAP Manager to organize his/her daily tasks so that
they are completed on schedule thus providing the manager with a sense of accomplishment
and greatly reducing stress levels.
